Typography, Mixed Media
Cafe is a theoretical typeface exercise to familiarize myself with the idea of using physical media in my work. It was created by placing cups of coffee on paper in different configurations to create letterforms; the topic being the word "Mom".
Fish in a Womb
Fish in a Womb is an animation piece that utilizes rotoscoping. It is an exploration of positive and negative space, and it combines sound and type with animation. The audio track is composed by me specifically for this piece.

My Body Hurts
Chip Sounds, Web Interactivity
Intro to Sound
My Body Hurts is the 8-bit recollection of an anxiety attack through the emotional and cultural lens of a kid in the early-mid 2000's. The aim is to simulate the sensation of an anxiety attack using the hardware constraints of a Nintendo Gameboy sound chip. Headphones are encouraged.
Noise, Spoken Word
Intro to Sound
The Pulse was a reaction piece to W. A. Mathieu's "The Listening Book: In Meter". In the piece I aim to summarize the key concepts in the essay using only ambient sounds from houshold electronics and repurposed garbage as percussion. Feat. sounds from my old broken computer.

Intro to Digital Photography
Packaged Meat is an exploration of the human in a plastic world. We are born into it, and we hardly ever think about it. The photos needed to be dramatic, but not so overly complex as to take away from the textures on the skin, which is the focus. The way the tape interacts with the skin, the subject's sweat, and the light creates a uniquely geometric brand of filmy embryonic goop. This was the final project for the class
Butts by Dre
Crowd Sourcing, Collage
Butts by Dre is themed around consumer culture, and brand identity. It consists of about 65 images from the internet and what they all have in common is that they are all instances of product placement spanning all forms of media, such as film, television, music videos, and sports. The assignment was to utilize reapropriation or crowdsourcing.

Amle Du Formage
Video Art I
Amle Du Formage is an absurdist criticism/parody of French art cinema, and an experiment in video and composition. The assignment was Disruption, so make sure you break out the headphones for this one.

Hansel And Gretel
The assignment here was to tell the story of a popular fairy tale with a webpage that utilizes the old depreciated image map tag, and animations. The piece is almost entirely illustrated on a tablet in order to achieve a certain hand drawn feeling.
Apple of Eden
With this I aimed to create a generational portrait using only popup windows. I was inspired by this concept of the unseen; there are so many popups out there on the internet somewhere but with todays ad blocking technology, they exist in a sort of shadow realm. Putting aside how well/poorly it stood up as an assignment, it conceptually pushed my work in a certain direction, but if you are wondering if it ever makes its way to some clear "end", then you will be disappointed.

— About —
"Sean Cruz is a real life pirate on the high seas, socialist, and rogue New Media artist at SUNY Purchase. Some of his hobbies include breaking hearts, breaking societal norms, rollerblading, and making sick beats (check out my bandcamp).
Sean's one true weakness is fuzzy puppies and he is also very ticklish. Sean tries really hard not to take things too seriously, but usually fails because he is a professional worry wart. Most importantly, Sean is really rad and always does his chores on time. He loves his mother, for without whom, he would not exist. He is also the ultimate son." - not my mom
