About the Alternative Clinic:
The Alternative Clinic is an on-campus, student-run, women's health clinic held two nights per week at Health Services. Our staff includes two student Co-Directors, six student interns, and one licensed Nurse Practitioner. Our services are completely confidential and include providing gynecological and counseling services for female students at SUNY Purchase. The Alternative Clinic is a safe space for women, providing counseling on women's health-related issues and the services of a licensed Nurse Practitioner who will perform routine gynecological exams, pregnancy tests, and prescribe birth control methods. The Clinic has access to a wide range of laboratory services and responsible referrals will be provided. The Clinic also functions as an educational facility for the campus-wide community, providing free literature on a wide range of women's health-related topics, tabling at campus events, and collaborating with other student organizations. We offer free pelvic exams, pregnancy tests, STI testing, condoms (both male and female), lubricant, dental dams, and sexual health information packets. For paid services (like pap smears), we accept both student and private health insurance. Next semester, our clinic nights will be Thursdays and Fridays from 5:30-8:30pm, located in Health Services (1st floor of the gym). For appointments, please call 914-251-6380.
