This art piece is a depiction of the stress I experienced through finals week this semester, using a markov chain to sample a text file I wrote of thoughts I had while working on my final projects to generate new “thoughts” that would appear on screen. In addition to the text and the digital drawing made for this project, there is an oscillator playing in the background and transparent squares fading in and out which helps set the anxious mood of this piece. The faster the oscillator gets, the faster the thoughts on screen change.
Most of the thoughts that flash on screen are not able to be read in full by the time they fade away, which represents the irrational nature of stressful thoughts that occur late at night. Along with this, some thoughts don’t make sense grammatically to add to this effect.
